Meet the Team: Dieter our new Bike Mechanic
We’re really pleased to introduce another new member of our team, Dieter, who joins us as bike mechanic and has an awesome cycle background. Read on to find out more!
Tell us a bit about your background as a bike mechanic
It’s included everything from working with World Cup and Olympic team riders to finding solutions for riders with disabilities to help them be able to ride the same as anyone else. I'm looking forward to increasing not only the quality of the services offered at Happy Days but also the variety!
What have you been working on recently?
I've spent the last few years working in engineering whilst still keeping my hand in with bikes running a busy home workshop.
What’s the best thing about Sowerby Bridge?
I've literally only moved here in the last few weeks after living in the Peak District for my whole life. I moved as I've bought a house with my girlfriend and the live music scene in Sowerby Bridge is much better than my hometown! The best thing about Sowerby Bridge for me though is without doubt the geese!
Silly question perhaps but … do you like cycling?
I've been riding almost every day since I was 8 years old! I've collected quite a fleet of bikes over the years, and at last count I had 12 in various states of assembly! From full on carbon fibre dream machines to BMXs, trials bikes to highly customised 16" wheeled kids bikes ( that I raced in an actual downhill race!) My main bike though is a Santa Cruz 5010 that puts a smile on my face every time I ride it!
